Book Giveaway Winner…and Some Christmas Shopping Ideas

Thanks again to all those readers who entered last week’s giveaway.

It was great to read your enthusiastic comments about the three beautiful girls’ books, and about the time you spend, or plan to spend, cooking and creating with your kids.

Just a couple of days ago, my daughter and I made our favorite Magnolia Bakery Cupcakes, in marbled chocolate, vanilla and pink, iced with ‘neopolitan’ buttercream frosting.

While it was definitely not good for the waist-line, we both had a lot of fun, and although the cupcakes didn’t last that long, I’m sure the memories will!

But having fun in the kitchen has not gotten me any closer to being organized for Christmas. I hope you’re doing a far better job of that than I am at the moment.

My daughter is now reminding me that it’s just two weeks to her birthday and I read earlier this week that Christmas is just 35 days away. Not to scare you either, but that was two days ago. So by now we must be down to…33?

To save time and a whole lot of running around, I’m hoping to get a fair bit of my Christmas shopping done online this year.

If you’re planning to do that too, here are a couple of beautiful online stores I’ve recently discovered that are worth checking out:

You might also get some great Christmas gift ideas at Made It. And be sure to check out Pinterest for Christmas decorating, creating and baking inspiration!

For now, it’s time to let you know the winner of this month’s giveaway.

Here’s the winning number, chosen again by Random.org:

Congratulations Marita! You’ll find some great ideas in Cookbook for Girls for Annie’s next birthday party. And whether or not you’ve started planning your Christmas celebrations, The Organised Housewife’s Christmas Planner should be a great help keeping you on track with what needs to be done over the next five weeks.

Thanks again to all of you who entered. If you didn’t win this month, make sure to try again next time.

For now, I’m off to start thinking about that Christmas shopping list!

I’d love to hear how you’re going with your Christmas shopping. Are you finished already? Just starting? Will you be shopping online, or mingling with the crowds? Leave a comment and let me know!

  1. Oh I do not even want to mention where my Christmas shopping is at! I have printed out a christmas gift planner from http://www.giftsforblokes.com.au, and did google a couple of gift ideas. I am not sure if I will be an online shopper because it would need to be done now to allow delivery times!

However, I would like to congratulate Marita on winning the Cookbook for Girls. Our son Brodie was browsing through our daughter Pippa’s Cookbook for Girls last night and will be cooking nachos & salsa and spicy potato wedges for dinner tonight to accompany our lamb chops. He has also marked sticky labels with “Christmas” for the gingerbread house and chocolate cake! So I am this book will bring many delights to your family too!

    1. Kerrie, Thanks for sharing the link for Gifts for Blokes. There are some great ideas there. At least you’ve made a bit of a start with the Christmas planning. If you have anything written down at this stage, you’re doing better than I am!!
Hope you enjoyed the nachos and potato wedges. I think my kids are pretty keen on making a gingerbread house this year, so we might have to check out the recipe in our copy of the book too!

  2. The book arrived today, it is even more awesome in the flesh 🙂 I’m going to give it to Annie for Christmas with cool cookie decorating set I got 🙂

    Thank you so much 🙂

    1. Marita, glad to hear the book arrived so quickly and that you love it!
A cookie decorating set sounds like the perfect thing to give Annie along with the book at Christmas. I bet she’ll love them both too!
