Book Giveaway: Beautiful Clothes Patterns & Fun Sewing Projects for Kids

It’s been a while since my last book giveaway here at The Inspired Notebook.

Seeing as it’s one of my most favourite things to do, I’m excited now to share with you a few beautiful books from the shelves of The Not So Shabby Bookshelf – and to give you the chance to win one for yourself!

There are so many books I’d love to include this time around that it’s been a bit hard to choose.

But, inspired by a recent tweet from Retro Mummy, requesting ideas for sewing pattern books for tweens – and by the lovely lady who bought two of these books at the Absolute Kaos market the following day – I’ve decided that these are the perfect books to include in this month’s giveaway.

GIRL’S WORLD  by Jennifer Paganelli

Girl’s World is a book you’d buy just to look at. It’s beautiful!

But as well as being simply lovely to look at, Jennifer Paganelli (creator of Sis Boom Fabrics) has filled her first book with an amazing collection of 21 sewing projects for girls.

You’ll find seven gorgeous dress patterns here, along with patterns for accessories including a headband, barettes, and even a Paper Doll Overnight Bag. The nine projects for ‘Home’ in the book include ruffled pillows, pom pom pillows, a very cute soft puppy, and a patchwork memory board.

Patterns for the projects can be found in the pocket at the front of the book.

If you’re looking for sewing projects for tweens, you’ll find them here. Dress pattern sizes range from extra-small (2 to 3 years old) to extra-large (12 to 14 years old), so these projects can be made for girls ranging from toddlers right up to teens.

SEWING CLOTHES KIDS LOVE  by Nancy J S Langdon & Sabine Pollehn

Sewing Clothes Kids Love is filled with bright, colourful and imaginative clothes designed by the owners of popular kids’ clothing pattern companies, Farbenmix and Studio Tantrum.

As well as chapters filled with information and instructions for choosing fabrics, taking measurements, laying out and cutting fabric, sewing successfully, and creative embellishment, there are 10 projects in this book with patterns for ages 18months to 11 and 12 year olds.

Although the majority are for girls clothes, a few of the projects offer variations for boys as well.

If you love the creativity of European style clothes for kids, and the use of applique and embellishments to add to the fun of the clothes you make, this book will provide you with not only the patterns you need but also a whole lot of  inspiration!

SEWING SCHOOL  by Amie Petronis Plumley & Andria Lisle

This one’s for the kids!

While mum’s creating beautiful new clothes for them, they can be working on their very own sewing projects.

Suitable for children aged 8 and up, with step-by-step illustrated instructions teaching them the very basics of sewing, the projects in Sewing School include making stuffies, an ipod case, wallet, apron and superhero cuff.

The chapter ‘Recycle and Repair’ has instructions for sewing on buttons, mending hems and holes, and even recyclying your favourite old t-shirt to make a pillow.

With 21 projects and patterns included, there’s a lot of sewing fun here for kids to enjoy!
